Children must go straight to the play round before school starts and not to the classroom.

Literacy

We will be looking at the features of a play script and how we perform a play to an audience. We will focus on writing a good sentence with full stops and capital letters.

Maths

We will count in tens to 100. We will find numbers on a number line up to 1000 and know the value of each digit.

Social Studies

We will be investigating how the Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics to write. We will write on
papyrus like they did.

Science

We will planning and
investigating the loudness of sounds and how they change when we hear them.

This week we will be looking at report writing, focusing on the features of a  weather report.

Maths

This week we will looking at pairs of numbers that make 100 and addition.

Science

We will be looking at how sounds can change and explain how they have changed.

Social Studies

We will continue to plan a holiday to different holiday destinations  around the world.

Special notices

There will be no more homework for this term as it is revision instead ready for test week.

Please can all library books be returned to Mrs Lewis in the school library by the end of this week as she needs to count them all before the end of term. Therefore, children will not be allowed to take any more library books out until September.

Also, this will be the last week that the children will have reading books sent home, as they too need to be counted.

I have pleasure in informing you that Thursday 6th June 2013 is an official holiday. Therefore school will be closed on that day.

This week we will be looking at report writing,focusing on the features of a non-chronological report and writing short reports.

Maths

This week we will continue to look at money and all coins up to £2.00. We will be making calculations using different amounts of coins.

Science

We will be looking at how sounds can change and explain how they have changed.

Social Studies

We will continue to plan a holiday to different holiday destinations  around the world.

Special notices

A few reminders for you:

The assessments for term 3 will all happen during the week beginning Sunday 2nd June. If you are planning time away from school, please try and make it for after assessment week, as the teachers will use the results to aid their final assessment of the children ready for year 4.Please use the websites on the pupil zone and theblog as revision. Further information will follow for specific areas to revise.

We are pleased to see we are having many hits on the year 3 blog. Please continue to use it, as it is helping us be as ‘paper-free’ as possible.

Special notices

Informal parents evening

Monday 6th May is the informal parents meeting for year 3. Please drop in between 3-5pm. The aim of this meeting is to have an informal chat about the term 2 report and any concerns you may have in this final term. If you do not have any concerns then there is no need to attend.

Homework and the blog

The problems with the blog from last week should now be sorted out. As you will have noticed, we have cut back on sheets for homework in our bid to go ‘paper free’. You will be referred to the blog to find out further homework details from now on. You can still use the pupil zone for extra  website activities. We hope this new method runs smoothly!

Maths

This week we will be looking at the x3 and x6 tables and using them to make calculations.

Literacy

This week we will be continuing with the story video ‘Baboon on the moon’ and looking at writing adverts for jobs, instructions and revising using connectives.

Social Studies

We will be looking at planning a holiday to a particular climate.

We will be investigating the loudness of sounds and how sounds change.
